1000 Drive FIXED tcat

so 2009 thundercat 1000 H2, troubleshooting some issues with drivetrain.

the rear shaft in the CVT, the shaft for the fixed drive face. It will slide in and out about 1/8", is that normal, or indicative of problems inside the gearbox? when I pull it out I cad see a groove around the shaft, push in and the groove goes inside. Possibly leaking oil through here (the cvt was filled by the front seals blowing out so its hard to tell). If I want to replace the seals here, do I have to break the crankcase open and do it from the inside or can this be done from the outside?
