Turbo 2013 naturally aspirated

Depends on the engine and the vehicle and gas or diesel. If diesel, for sure turbo. If a gas 4 cylinder, same in most cases. Otherwise, not enough power. For a truck or heavy car without sporting pretensions, a naturally aspirated V8 is usually sufficient. For lighter, sporty cars a naturally aspirated I6 or V6 is often ideal if you don't mind revving, but that requires a smooth motor or it gets old quickly. For good power down low these days forced induction is generally needed on those types of motors though.

I've had vehicles with naturally aspirated 4, 6 (3), 8 (2) engines as well as turbo 4 (2) and supercharged 6 cylinder motors. The V8s and the supercharged 6 formats are both great, the rest lacking in one way or another, whether NVH, low-end torque or high-end horsepower, or all of these. Of course naturally aspirated, being simpler will be more reliable everything else being equal. However I think we passed the days of turbos being a for-sure maintenance liability for most people a few years back.
